Descripción
English: Planning map for Interstate Highways in Metro Detroit. In today's terms, they are:
  • I-94 — Pretty much built to plan, though much was already completed by 1955
  • I-275 — Western city bypass was originally routed along Telegraph Road (US-24) which was 7 miles to the east of where was eventually built
  • I-75 - Southern section into downtown is relatively close to plan, though it initially followed the railroad line closer to the river. Northern section was originally routed between today's I-75 and the Lodge to merge back into the bypass near Telegraph and Maple road.
  • I-96 - Originally routed along Grand River Road northwest all the way until the Farmington Cutoff which was already being upgraded. Much of this plan was abandoned in the freeway revolts of the 1970s.
  • I-696 — Originally routed along Eight Mile which was 2-3 miles south of where it was built
  • A short never built connection east of downtown along present day Jefferson Avenue
