Eighth District — George H. Nason.
George H. Nason, the candidate for Assembly in the Eighth District, was born in Greepoint thirty years ago, and received his education in Grammar School No. 22 and the University of the City of New York. He graduated from the latter institution with the class of 1874. He is active in Republican politics in his ward, and in 1883 was the Vice President of the General Committee and Secretary of the Executive Committee. That same year he was elected to the Assembly over Henry M. Birket by 647 majority, while at the same time the the Democratic State ticket received about 700 majority in the district. In the Assembly he did good work on the Committee on Cities, the Sub-Committee of the Whole, the Committee on Printing, and the Committee on Expenditures in the Executive Department. Simply by his energy he passed the bill making provision for payment to the county of $580,000 back taxes by the city. and which in interest alone will save to the city $16,500 annually for forty years. The bill authorizing the building of the much-needed station house and police court on Adams street was also passed by Mr. Nason. The citizens of his district should feel it obligatory to vote for him in view of his past record.
