Description: Gonsuke Hayashi, 1861 - 1939. Served in the Japanese Foreign Ministry in a number of diplomatic and consular posts in China, Great Britain, Korea, Italy [and perhaps others]. In April 1899 he was appointed Minister in Korea. Hayashi signed various bi-lateral treaties and agreements relating to the status of Korea as a Japanese Protectorate. Most notable was the eJapan-Korea Protocole of February 1904, and the eConvention Providing for Control of Korean Foreign Relations by Japane in November 1905.
