Langton Matravers is a village on the Isle of Purbeck, in the county of Dorset in the south of England. It is situated about two kilometres directly west of the town of Swanage and about eight kilometres (five miles) south-east of Corfe Castle. For governmental purposes it lies within the Purbeck local government district, the South Dorset constituency of the House of Commons and the South West England constituency of the European Parliament. The first Langton Matravers Parish Council was elected in 1894. In the 2001 Census the village had a population of 973, up from 773 in 1991. 16.9% of homes in the village are second homes .
