Alexander John Ellis (Londres, 14 de junio de 1814 - Kensington, 28 de octubre de 1890) fue un etnomusicólogo, lingüista, matemático, musicólogo y teórico de la música británico. Estudió en Shrewsbury School. Recibió el galardón Miembro de la Royal Society.
