A bust of Anacreon in the Louvre

Anacreon (Greek , gen.: Ἀνακρέοντος) (582 BC – 485 BC) was a Greek lyric poet, notable for his drinking songs and hymns. Later Greeks included him in the canonical list of nine lyric poets.
